"Small Modern Covered Jar"

An exquisite full body tapers down to a delicate base, which lends a certain drama to this piece. The clay bisque is pit-fired, using straw and sawdust, which creates distinct grass patterns, fire clouds, and rich sepia tones. The artist then hand colors the work with its unique design, using metallic paints, oil sticks, acrylics, and textured powdered marble. The delicate surface is then fixed with a satin acrylic spray to protect the finish. The detail in this work is truly magnificent.
